Culture of Cultivation
10 Jun
Lately I’ve been talking a lot about defining cultural norms within my volunteer team. There are certain cultural norms that have remained strong within LifeKIDS for years. And there are others that have changed slightly. If allowed to last, they can knock us off-track.
A Culture of Cultivation is a quiet but crucial theme to a healthy volunteer team. I must be more concerned about the spiritual health of my volunteer team than I am about getting my ‘holes’ filled. In some respects we are very consistent with cultivating spiritual health. We don’t allow someone to substitute their time in the adult worship experience in order to serve in LifeKIDS. However, I do little to challenge my volunteers to grow outside of that weekend worship experience.
Internal Check: Imagine a passion for scripture spilling over from my volunteer team onto the kids in my ministry. How can I build into my volunteers a love and passion for God’s Word?

Loving the thoughts here…it is easy to come do our “job” as volunteers and then vanish till the following week. I really love the challenge you sent out too…got me to thinking! I do think that one benefit to volunteering at Konnect is that we have a few minutes to share/pray/eat together…seems to make the bond stronger and the accountability more present for me!
