Take the Challenge – Earn a Prize

19 Aug

This is a 7 day challenge geared toward parents.  If you have a child (of any age) living in your home I invite you to take this challenge with me.  The challenge is born from a set of Parenting Skills I learned a year ago.  (Skill #4 , Fight for the Heart. You can watch the video of all 5 skills here.)

Fight for the Heart is a simple rule that reminds us of the value and impact of a parents words to their kids.  Our words are more valuable to our kids than we think.  Which is why praying over them is a critical, valuable function toward solidifying their foundation of faith.

So, I’m launching a 7 Day Challenge to pray over your kids.  Here’s how it goes…

  • Set aside time each day for the next 7 days (morning or evening… whatever works w/ your schedule)
  • Click here to download a document with prayers you can use OR check out these verses online and create your own
  • Pray over your child using the power of God’s Word
  • Share your experiences.  At the end of the 7 days, return here and leave a comment or send me an email at gina@lifechurch.tv and share your experience with us.  Your comments/email response automatically enters your name in a drawing for a $10 gift card to Starbucks.  who doesn’t love Sbux?!?

The point to the exercise is to utilize God’s Word to make His Presence a part of our kids’ lives and work powerfully on their behalf.  Will you join me on this challenge?  I’ll revisit this in a blog post next Thursday (August 27th).  Can’t wait to hear what God does.

Ready.  Set.  Pray!

Starbucks is always a great motivator.

If a leader on our team recruits someone into children’s ministry, we give them a Starbucks gift card to take that new recruit out to coffee after their first serving experience.

I’ll let you know how this goes in our home this week.

I just posted this to my Facebook page in hopes that others in my Mom’s Small Group will join me in this challenge.

    I’m excited to do it!

And you were at Orange in the blogger’s lounge right? I’ve added so many blogs to my reading I can’t keep them straight. I met you very briefly – I won the Think Orange book from Kenny Conley.

Um… I don’t like Starbucks, yet a reminder and a new way to pray for my kids is GREAT!

Col 2:2 is one of my favorites too…
I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.

I pray for them, but not over them while they are listening. This could be awkward, but WILL be powerful. thanks for the push.

I’m on day 5 and all I can say is wow!! My son is 3 1/2…..he is all boy as most boys are. I am learning that by praying over my child and for my child…..that there is a miracle happening in me as a parent. I am slower to speak and slower to frustration……it really is amazing…..and God is absolutely incredible.

    Thanks so much for this!!!

This challenge was great! I loved it. My son was gone 3 of the 7 days and I still prayed in his room, on his bed, as though he were there. The 5th night, he said “Thank you for praying for me Mom”. I could have cried. That was enough, BUT I have faith God will deliver more through my commitment to pray. Thank you Gina for your desire to challenge us. I will continue to use the prayers.
