the quirkiness of me
7 Dec
As I pursue the my next ministry role, I’ve learned more about who I am and the person God created me to be. Some things about me I love, while other things I’d love to change completely. But that’s a work for Jesus… not me.
I’ve been in conversation with a church recently and the process has progressed to a point where the senior pastor is now calling my references for further investigation. One of the people on my list was on my LifeKIDS staff at the OKC campus. He shot me an email this morning to tell me that he talked to this pastor about me and my potential ‘fit’ as a leader at his church. To all my internet friends that don’t hang around me on a regular basis, I thought you’d get a kick out of our “post-reference call” e-mail conversation. Give’s you a glimpse of my quirkiness from the perspective of a former teammate.
Me: Hey Justin, I’m sending a quick email b/c I wanted you to know that I’ve included your name on a brief list of references for a ministry position. You can expect a call from a senior pastor of a church currently searching for a children’s pastor. Thanks, gina
Justin: Awesome girl! I’d be glad to tell him about the times you crash scooters and how much java you sling!
Me: Don’t fail to mention it was a perfect tuck-n-roll off the scooter

Justin: He called about a couple minutes ago! I added that when you were rolling you led 2 kids to Christ, led a child dedication, ordered an Double Short Americano, posted to your blog and got 2 comments, and as your finale you slipped in a 5 syllable word that hasn’t been heard in 73 years. Let’s just say his mouth is still agape. You’re welcome. I’ll be here all week.
As much as I’d like to think I’m a dignified, professional individual… this is the reality. I’ve been know to biff it on scooters, cling desperately to a golf cart dragging me across a parking lot and back into stationary, load-bearing posts with my vehicle. Maybe I should be bubble wrapped for protection.

I could totally beat you in a scooter race!
Oh how I miss you Gina! and by the way…this part spoke to me in profound ways today: Some things about me I love, while other things I’d love to change completely. But that’s a work for Jesus… not me.
Love you sweet friend!
It is almost as if Jesus had you write it just for my encouragement
so i’m curious as to what the 5 syllable 72 year old word was
