the volunteer

rugby ball

God’s given all of us a “ball” to carry.  The ball is your ministry objective… your goal.

But sometimes we get the ball and our teammate confused.  Our need for help can scream so loud ministries start to compete… in turn, we treat the volunteer like the ball… to be fought over.

It’s critical to keep our eye on the ball (ministry objective) and treat our volunteers as another teammate ready to take the ball and run.

  1. Sometimes church staff can become big shot Kobe ball hogs. We need to play like the old school Celtics or 90s Bulls and share the ball more. Not just pass when it doesn't matter, but hand it off to volunteers when we're down by one at the buzzer and let them know we trust them and need them (since we do).
